Fall 2012 Emerging Trends: Saturated Aureate Moments

The stream of incessant design delights we like to refer to as ‘Fashion Month’ has now ceased. Milan, London, New York and Paris were equally giving and steadfast in their own unique aesthetics. Here at Elysium(E) we tend to shy away from banding and segregating the offerings into ‘destinations,’ much better we feel to appreciate the shows as an uber collective. Picking through a pile of pleasures with the aim of making some sense of it all, selecting cuts, colours and fabrications we see taking a grasp of our own wardrobes in the not so distant future.

*Haider Ackermann

Beginning with potential colour ways of this fall season, it seems our garments will begin to adopt some of the natural hues that surround us at this time of year. Here we see crispy browns and corn like yellows adopting a bold metallic finish. Be this in an entire piece of clothing or subtly realised via a belt or a pair of heels in differing variations.

Haider Ackerman showed toward the end of the month in Paris, where he was recognized as being ‘the best colourist in fashion since Yves Saint Laurent’ by none other than Suzy Menkes. Throughout his stunning exhibition we saw a literal reflective play on a dull brown palette, following on from London, Milan and New York. How can we argue with such a celebrated designer, be sure to inject some saturated gold or an intensified bronze into your own Fall 2012 wardrobe.
